Tat’s Best Customer

She’s there in the charity shop
when not in the store which sells
bright and shiny goods for a pound.

She likes to have a good look around
before buying something else
she doesn’t really need.

People pass her in the street never
seeing past red socks, purple shoes,
her voluminous green frock coat.

And at home she’ll add the week’s finds
a star, a string of beads, or another
short lived butterfly to her world

so harshly coloured without love.
